Student Voice in INSET 1Students in year 10 and 11 have the opportunity to help students in years 7 and 8 by becoming Learning advisors.

The Student Voice work alongside teachers to improve learning. They undertake consultation on schemes of learning, teaching and learning practices and help devise ways to help both the teachers and students.

The Student Voice run INSET training for teachers.  They have devised activities to inspire and inform teachers and students alike. They have worked alongside all of the teachers on designing ‘Peer Assessment Mats’ to help students in the classroom when they are assessing their own and others work.

Student Voice in INSET 2Here are a few quotes about our November INSET day:

“Having our students run the INSET day was a revelation, the buzz created and the energy that staff and students felt at the end of the day was fantastic. It was better constructed, better executed and had far more impact than any external INSET company could every provide”

Gareth Davis Deputy Head Teacher

Student Voice in INSET 3“I found the student voice Inset one of the most useful and interesting and I am still thinking about the issues raised.”

Baljit Marwa Team Leader science

"I was surprised at the amount of input the staff gave into discussions, at first I thought the teachers would be as chatty as we were to them in their classes, but they took the day seriously and I believe that we learned from them as much as they learned from us."
